I have a theory that if we filled all the potholes in our Caribbean roads with the abandoned wrecks that line our roads we could kill two birds with one stone, so to speak!
No matter how much we love the islands, the truth is that the roads are universally abominable. And they are in a constant state of repair, which is only ever half completed before the money runs out or boredom sets in... Read More |

Little is known about the small island paradises known as of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and frankly most of this groups island residents are very happy to remain off the radar. Try as they may to keep their magnificent islands a jealously guarded secret, these islands have been a well-known haven for the yachting and scuba crowd for years, and are the recipient of many awards for best sailing, diving, fishing and secluded beaches, in the world. Also the rich and famous have been hiding out there for decades, immersing themselves in the unspoiled, lush beauty. The longest running unsolved mystery in Latin America, for several centuries, has been the exact location of Christopher Columbus’ burial site. And for many years, two nations have battled out their claim of being the home to that site. After he died in Spain, Columbus’ remains travelled quite a bit, eventually ending up in the Dominican Republic, and then supposedly back to Spain. But this is where the mystery begins. Two cities, Seville (Spain) and Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) claim to have the remains of the great explorer. Of course, behind the battle is the fact that lots of tourism dollars come in annually from visitors flocking to visit Columbus’ resting place in each city. The debate may soon end as DNA testing has been done and more is scheduled. Read the conclusion to this fascinating mystery in A Well-Travelled Corpse: The Remains of Columbus, Part 2.
