| People often ask me why Sam and I chose The Bay Islands and how we came to develop Keyhole Bay. I want you to know the answer, because I think it may lead you to the same conclusion: Where else in the world would anyone want to live?
I might as well confess to you that I’m an engineer by trade. So I analyze (some would say “over-analyze”) everything. Which is why I know which way every blade of grass is bent on Keyhole Bay. Why only the highest-grade cement is poured into our solid concrete condominiums.
And why Keyhole Bay boasts the only fresh-from-the-tap drinking water in The Bay Islands. Before building Keyhole Bay, Sam and I owned and operated our own successful residential and commercial construction companies in Florida. And before that, I was responsible for building projects throughout the world, like in Saudi Arabia, where I oversaw the design, zoning and planning, utility grid installation, and housing construction for five settlements of between 2,000 and 7,000 people each.
Over the next 12 months, we looked at 14 different tropical paradise properties throughout the Caribbean – from Costa Rica to St. Kitts and Nevis … from Belize to The Bahamas.
We evaluated everything from the political climate to the angle of the sun… from the cost of living to the return on investment … from the smiles on the faces of the natives to the granular content of the sands on the beach (I told you, I’m an engineer).
And one evening, as we sat offshore at nearby West Bay, following the moon’s silvery path across the placid bay to the pristine beach, we turned to each other and said, “It doesn’t get any better than this. I have a feeling you could soon be saying the same thing.
So, we built Keyhole Bay on the rolling hills of a lush 20-acre spread gracing the south shore of West Bay. At first, we were only going to build our own home. Then we thought … well, it would be nice to have some neighbors. And, of course, you would have to have your own home, too, where, like us, you can kick off your shoes, bask in the sun, and let the waves of a private, intimate beach nibble at your toes. At the far end of that private, intimate beach, you’ll soon find a conference center, a clubhouse, and a gourmet restaurant. And just up the hill, you’ll soon be able to do all of your shopping at a world-class mall, complete with the finest name-brand stores, a top-quality food court, complete banking facilities, and state-of-the-art doctor’s offices.
And should you want to spend the weekend enjoying live performances at a first-rate theatre or professional sports at the old ball park (all for a fraction of what you’re now paying) you can hop a plane to Tegucigalpa and be there within the hour. So, how good is life at Keyhole Bay? Well, just as I was finishing up this letter, one of the workers from the construction site stopped by to bring me a piece of watermelon fresh from the “fruta” vendor. He said in English (which is the language of business in The Bay Islands), “It’s sweet, Mr. Dan.”
And you know what? He was right. In fact, as I hope you will soon see for yourself when you set ashore at Keyhole Bay, it simply doesn’t get any sweeter than this. |
