Tales of Merida : Siestas and Sombreros
As soon as we entered the bustling border town, the sights and sounds of a very busy city struck me like a bolt of lightening! The fragrant aromas of the seemingly endless food and taco stands filled the air. Music could be heard from every tiny tienda and booth in the main shopping bazaar. Mariachi bands strolled the streets competing with trios strumming their guitar shoping to find an enamored couple who would hire them for a few serenades. Wow, Mexico’s version of Woodstock I thought!  ---> read more.

Hot Off The Press - June
The current situation in Tobago with regard to the purchase of property by non-nationals is unfavourable. Expats cannot buy real estate in Tobago without an Alien Landholders licence and there is no administrative machinery in place to apply for the licence. Therefore over the last four months no sales to non-residents have taken place. ---> read more.

Roatan Life : Healthcare and the Gold Standard
The Heritage Foundation has consistently rated Honduras above the median in virtually every area of its esteemed Index of Economic Freedom. In fact, in the area of Freedom from Government, Honduras actually rates 20 points higher than the United States, and in the top tier worldwide. Also, Freedom House, an organization that monitors the level of political freedom in the world, found that Honduras not only met, but often exceeded, its rigorous criteria, as used in the MCA analyses. ---> read more.

Caribbean Sustainable Renewable Energy Resources
specialized agriculture, such as organic farming, whose products appeal to high-end niche markets, is gradually becoming more popular throughout the region. And currently, there are many organic farms and local and international support organizations promoting alternative agriculture, sustainability and the development of unique value-added product industries for sale directly to local consumers and for export. Costa Rica, for example, is an ideal country if you are looking for fertile land and ample rainfall: these are two of this country's principal resources -at present one quarter of its land is set aside as national forest.  ---> read more.

PADI Diving : An Intern Navigates
Diving, like traveling, is a short-lived experience to some degree and I often felt a sense of loss when our guests would be putting their shoes on at the dock when it seemed like just moments ago they were wondering why we were asking them to take them off. But even during those stressful hurried moments, there is that one appreciative or excited diver that makes it all worthwhile, or even the dive itself, or offering a word of encouragement to a frightened guest who isnt quite sure shes up for the oceanic voyage on an apparently much more vulnerable vessel than the enormous cruise ship.  ---> read more.

Costa Rica - Adopt a Tico and no Shrimping
The tourist permit allows for only a 90 day period. After that, a visitor must renew his or her Visa. According to the immigration law a foreigner here as a tourist must leave the country for at least 72 hours after he or she has been in Costa Rica for 90 days. As far as having to travel outside of Costa Rica, its not that big of a deal and can be fun. Many people travel to David or Bocas del Toro, Panama or Granada, Nicaragua on inexpensive bus tours for a weekend. ---> read more.

Panama Real Estate : A Booby Trap
Panama’s most honest and well-researched real estate guide. The Report starts off by introducing itself as the first of its kind. It then does a brief review humbly referred to as “Panama 101”, going over general themes and citing common traps to watch out for. Landau then segues into a piece on each of Panama’s provinces. This chapter, unlike anything you’ll find in a guidebook, hypes the nation’s strengths just as much as it emphasizes its weaknesses.  ---> read more.

Better Building : Stop the Construction Carnival
When you do construction, it is common to request 3 or 4 quotations compare the offers and then take a decision. The contractor is then responsible to finish the job within the agreed budget after the contract has been signed. That’s indeed how it should be, but not how it is here in paradise. Many contractors quote a price they do not intend to honor. They accept the job, sign with a smile and promise you that you will love their work. Then, even if it was not in the contract, they usually ask for a little advance. Then, as the work progresses, they come with regular requests for advances.  ---> read more.

Dominican Republic Residential Resort For Sale
When Les and Lynda arrived nearly three years ago, from Winnipeg, they bought Condos Laguna with just one property on it. That original 240 sq meter home has been renovated into a 500 sq meter space with a 4m high ceiling which would make an ideal restaurant or convention/meeting area. Pillars support the huge high roof at both ends, and it feels like a Greek theatre waiting for its audience.  ---> read more.

Dominican Republic : Luxury Villa Windsong
Native Dominican coral floors containing gorgeous natural shell shaped fossils, the bathroom shower’s perfectly round white stones from Barahona as well hand maid hemp rope on the rafters are the natural materials that inspire you to relax and live in harmony with the sound of the ocean. If meditation is not your thing, you can enjoy surround sound music and movies in the media room with your 60 inch Sony Vega. For those rare moments when there isn’t a cool on-shore wind, all bedrooms, the media room, and kitchen are air conditioned. ---> read more.

Quintana Roo Waterfront Lots
Bacalar, Mexico, available overlooking the lagoon of the seven colours. Newly launched these lots are going fast. The only thing that can compare to the exclusivity of this residential development is Playacar where beachfront lots sell for $500 per square meter. Casas La Fe will soon be the most exclusive development in southern Quintana Roo, including the Costa Maya region. ---> read more.

June Letter from the Editor
Value like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Especially, it seems, property value. There are property seller's markets and property buyer's markets as I suppose there are for any type of merchandise. But as implied by the phrase, both are market driven ie. by market demand. The UK at the moment is generally a seller's market.  ---> read more.

For the 33,320 people who live here and for the many thousands of tourists who visit the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis every year, 'don't worry, be happy'!' There are four hospitals to care for our health and fifteen Health Centers. JNF (Joseph Nathanial Franz) General Hospital is located in Central Basseterre, St. Kitts, and is named after the then Minister of Social Services. Manchester to St. Kitts - A Kittitian Returns
I left my parents house some 30 odd years ago and it seems that I have spent all of that time searching for a home of my own. A home of my own to fill it with the things that I like, to have the rules work in my favour, to clean it to my specification. That which was created not with my consent, built not with me specifically in mind but was none the less secured for the benefit of my family. Home. I remember running away from home once and planning to escape many more times. Retiring home has been like returning to my childhood only this time I am without parental supervision. ---> read more.
